As the weather cools down it’s time to fish out those thick socks and slippers, but when was the last time you checked the sole of your ugg boots? Unfortunately due to the soft material of ugg boots, they usually only last one or two winters before compressing. If you’ve had them a few years my bet is that the sole will have worn down, which can increase your risk of foot injury.
So if you’re in the market here are my top suggestions for this winter
1. Closed toe birkenstocks (you can even get sheepskin lined ones!)
These are great because they have inbuilt arch support and a thicker sole, which unlike a slipper or ugg boot, will last much longer before compressing.
2. Emu ugg boots
Emu ugg boots use Australian Merino wool which makes them super soft and plush. It’s a natural fibre which not only helps insulate your feet and keep them warm, it aids in breathability and contributes to odour resistance. (Emu even has a factory outlet in South Geelong which is open Fridays for the bargin hunter!)
3. Slipper socks (for the people who like the barefoot feel)
Whose Grandma has made them a pair of these? They are just like wearing socks but with extra grip to prevent you from slipping in the kitchen! The extra layer on the sole of the foot also helps keep your foot warm, even on those cold bathroom tiles.
So there you have it! My top 3 ‘at home’ winter shoes. If you have any questions feel free to call the clinic or comment on the post below:)
